Jen Handler, JD, LCSW

Jen Handler, JD, LCSW completed the four-year Adult Training Program at NIP in 2018. She received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science and in English and American Literature from Brown University; a law degree from New York University; and a master’s degree in Social Work from New York University. Jen was the winner of the 2018 NIP Educator’s Award for an Outstanding Scholarly Paper and was selected as the 2018 NIPPA Fall Colloquium Awardee, granted to the author of a psychoanalytic scholarly work conducive to a colloquium presentation. Jen serves as the Vice-President of NIPPA and as the co-chair of NIPPA’s Focus Series.

In her psychotherapy practice, Jen helps clients become more in touch with their complex feelings and desires, and encourages them to embrace their full, authentic selves. Jen specializes in working with relationship conflicts of all kinds, self-esteem/shame, anxiety, depression, and college/graduate student mental health. In addition, Jen has deep experience working with members of the LGBTQIA community. As a former lawyer, Jen also has personal experience with working in high-pressure work environments and with career transitions.
